Prior to selecting a room, spend time discussing your building preferences with all parties involved and make sure that your roommate or group of roommates has read over this information and understands the process. Make a list of where you want to live and with whom.

NOTE: The apartments with private bedrooms are considered a shared space. You can assign into this type of space with either a roommate(s) or as a single. Click on Housing Options to view building information and see floor plans.

Leaders and Roommate Assignments

The student with the earliest time slot for the pair or group can "pull in" a roommate or group of roommates based on space availability. For example: if a roommate pair was made up of a junior and a sophomore and both were eligible for room selection during Step Two, this pair would participate during the time slot assigned to the junior. In short, the earliest time slot assigned to any member of an eligible pair or group is the time slot that can be used for room selection. The person with the earliest time slot is the "Leader" and is the best choice for reserving the bed for themselves and the roommate(s) during Step Two. If the Leader is not able to participate during their time slot, the roommate can assign the beds for themselves and the Leader but only during their own time slot.

Roommates have to be "added" to the Add Roommates page and verified as mutual requests. Only one person in the pair or group has to "add" the other roommate(s) by putting in their Roommate Search ID. The roommate who has been added will receive an e-mail with information about accepting or declining the request. You cannot assign with your roommate(s) if this was not done.

If you are the person taking advantage of being pulled in by someone, you are allowing that person to assign you to a room. It is important to stay in communication during their time slot to make sure a bed was reserved for you. If the roommate with the earlier time slot fails to follow through, you will need to participate during your own time slot or as close to it as possible. Roommate Changes

If your roommate plans have changed prior to the beginning of Step Two, you will need to "unlink" from your roommate(s) on the Add Roommates page which will be open in the portal. If you do not unlink, you will not be able to finish reserving a bed for yourself. If you are changing roommate(s), you need to "link" with the new person by adding their Roommate Search ID# to the Add Roommates page. They will need to accept your request to finalize the link. You can then reserve a bed for yourself and the new roommate(s).

Roommate Search ID#

The student with the earlier time slot will need the Roommate Search ID for each person they are assigning into a bed in the room. The Roommate Search ID is found on the Welcome to myHousing page after logging in. Look for it in the upper left hand corner in a section called Profile Summary. Write the number down and share it with your roommate(s). This number is unique to the myHousing portal and is not your 麻豆视频 student ID, so is safe to share.

If you want to select a space on your own, you will not "add" anyone on the Add Roommates page. You will be classified as a Single and will receive a later time slot for room selection. The priority order for room selection for people in this category will be the same as the Pairs/Group category, starting with seniors and ending with continuing freshmen.

If you assign yourself into a shared room or apartment, the Residence Life Office reserves the right to consolidate you with other singles. Take time before the process begins to view Housing Options, which include views of floor plans.
